This should be one of our daily requests:
That God never takes away his reproof from us. Why? Because when God reproves us of sin, that reproof comes out of love, and the end result is to bring us to good, convert us, and save our souls.
To harden our necks ( obstinately refused submission and reformation) to God's reproof will only result in our own ruin!
Oftentimes we want to do things our own way. We don't want anyone to tell us what to do and how to do it! You cry out to God for help and direction and when he gives it to you, you go off and do the opposite and then wonder why you're in a pickle! But thank God he reproves us by his Providence in private and public cataclysms! So take heed. Stop being so stubborn and think about this:
Stupid and unreasonable is the man who hardened simself in sin!
