Submission Before the Flock

I've heard a few elders say this phrase; "I can show ya better than I can tell ya." That phrase was usually followed by some kind of rebuke or correction and when you heard that you knew, I better straighten up and fly right! 😁

How do we deal with rebuke and correction amongst our young people today? Do we turn a blind eye or a deaf ear? When we see them going down a path that we know will only bring turmoil, what do we say or do as their elders?

The Word clearly gives us instructions. In 1 Peter 5. It talks about being humble towards each other out of submission to God. As elders we must be a Godly example to our youths. We must feed and shepherd them. They should see us as a God-given authority in their lives, not as someone who wants power and control over them because as we know it doesn't take much for them to rebell.

So let's be chill. Walk in the authority of God, they'll see that! Speak with Godly wisdom, they'll hear that! And love unconditionally, they'll feel that!

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

I Peter 5:5‭-‬7 NKJV
